Looking back at 2012

Really don't know where the times gone since my last post, been beautiful weather here in Orlando which has meant more time on the golf course...that might explain it.

Looking back at 2012 it was certainly a busy year.

Very fortunate to attend the Ryder Cup in September and although only spent a night there was impressed with Chicago, perhaps as I'm originally from London there is a small part of me that misses the city life.

We got a lot of great comments on the trousers!!

I understand that Halloween is becoming a bigger deal now in the UK but I'm pretty sure its got a long way to go before its as huge as it is here. I still cant work out how nurses and maids outfits are Halloween costumes..and that's just the men.

There was a great Guy Fawkes night in Kissimmee with over 1500 people in attendance which is a great achievement  for a Monday night.   http://www.guyfawkeskissimmee.com/  it's so much more enjoyable not being frozen solid solid and up to your knees in mud.

The election was certainly an eye opener, the negative campaigns and media coverage is brutal. I think its fair to say that the Americans are much more vested in the elections and the voter turnout percentage is far higher. Not sure why that is...

Finally after dreaming about living in the US for over 20 years 2012 was the year I got my Green Card! Was an expensive process but worth it, love living here.

Started a new job in November working for Currencies Direct so exciting times ahead!

To blog or not to blog?!

So why now after nearly three years in Florida start to blog? Bored with Facebook, not enough characters on twitter and no one seems interested in my instagram account.

How does a C in GCSE English  qualify me to subject people to my ramblings? It probably doesn't but it seems that doesn't stop anyone else so lets give it a go! I do however write for the Florida Standard which goes out on line every couple of months covering business issues that effect (or is it affect?) Brits in Florida. www.thefloridastandard.com

I wont reveal everything about myself in the maiden post as firstly its not that interesting and secondly this may be such a disaster that I will try and slip away into anonymity.

What you can look forward to...

An insight on Expat life in Florida from someone working and living here permanently with a young family, some info on all the fun and games of getting a visa and I wont be able to contain myself from commenting on US politics.

Hope someone out there reads it..........
